Designed as part of a larger research facility, the centre is
located within a forest. The unusual form of the building was
developed in direct response to the contours of the forest.
Various spaces are interspaced with an equal number of courtyards.
Each space is defined by walls stepping up from the ground,
creating interesting transition spaces. The entire building
is reminiscent of a mud wall structure that seems to have grown
naturally from the earth.
In addition to an administration and essential services area,
the facilities also house a small lecture hall / theatre, auditorium,
an exhibition hall, class rooms/ activity area, a book sales
department and a canteen. |
