Hindustan
Aeronautics held a competition and invited several firms to
submit designs for their aerospace museum. The original brief
was limited to the renovation of an existing theatre building.
However, we decided to design and and propose a completely new
structure. The jury was impressed with the design and convinced
the management to develop this new structure.
The building is designed with circular lines around a courtyard.
There are seven different display areas, one for each decade
of HAL's existence. The exterior wall is a series of vertical
louvres interspersed with glass— this allows a generous
amount of natural light to enter the display areas. |
